After serving as an Army Chaplain for 28 years, Father Barbee retired from the service and began his faith journey in 2015. He became a Diocesan priest through the Laying of Hands by Bishop Ronald Gainer and the Prayer of Ordination, celebrated during the Rite of Ordination at St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg in October of 2020.. Father Dominic is a member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) and is from Nigeria. He celebrated his 25th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood  on April 8, 2025.
