Next scheduled meetings will be in the Church Hall at 6pm:

  • April 1st, 6pm in the Church Hall
  • April 29th, 6pm in the Church Hass  (No meeting in May due to Eucharistic Devotions)
  • June 3rd, 6pm in the Church Hall

The deadline for CCW college scholarship is Thursday, May 2, 2024.  Pleae complete the application on the table in the back of the Church. 


Please join us to celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph our patron Saint with our annual St. Joseph Table.  Tuesday, March 19th in the Church Hall following the 6pm Mass. 

The Council of Catholic Women assembles an Alter dedicated to Saint Joseph in the church hall and refreshments are served following Mass.   All are welcome.  The tradition of building the altar to St. Joseph began as far back as the Middle Ages in gratitude to St. Joseh for answering prayers for deliverance from famine. 

 


Recent Events 


March 16th Spring Craft, Vendor, and Food Fair

The Council of Catholic Women of St Joseph's Church had delicious baked goods and tasty treats at our Bake Sale.  Thank You and may God bless you for your generosity. 


January Epiphany Dinner was hosted by St. Cyril & Methodius Church held at the Berwick Golf Club; 31 members of St. Joseph Parish attended this special event. 


2023 Events

December 4th the Council Holiday Party was held in the Church Hall.   All members brought covered dish items and special entertainment was held by Josie Cuba, Philamena Klechner, and Justine Papada.  It was a great evening of food and fun and special way to celebrate the upcoming holiday.   


Living Faith Booklets were purchased by the Council hoping the parish members will enjoy them.  These booklets provide a quarterly daily devotion and the Council will continue to provide them on an ongoing basis. 


The Council of Catholic Women made a donation to support the Mayors' Coat/Hat/Gloves Drive in November.   This is a valuable and necessary program in our community.  The CCW greatly appreciates the important work this program provides.  We hope our donation will help make an impact. 


The Election Day Bake Sale was held Nov. 7th at the Maria Assunta.  Thank you to all the bakers and all who supported this fundraiser.  Proceeds go to the Lucille Whitmire Scholorship Fund.   Congratulations to Connie Ginger for winning the Thanksgiving Basket Raffle.  


The Council of Catholic Women recently gifted our CCD program with a generous donation to recognize and support this important ministry.


Saturday, November 4th, was our Holiday Craft Vendor, Food Fair!   Many thanks to all who gave of their time, talent, and teasure to make this such a success.  Much appreciation goes to the CCW bakers!


Saturday, October 28, the Golden or Silver Anniversaries were celebrated at Mass.   Congratulations to Jeff and Danielle Cerminaro; and Kevin and Irena Davis for celebrating their 25th Anniversary.  Congratulations to Joseph and Christine Stehle for celebrating their 50th Anniversary.   The Council of Catholic Women presented each couple with a photo frame and dinner gift certificate to honor this milestone.   


 

September 23, 2023 at 10 a.m., The Council of Catholic Women St. Joseph Parish hosted the Northern Deanery Meeting in the Church Hall.  A brunch and meeting was held with 14 attendees.   This meeting provides an opportunity for sharing of recent experiences and upcoming events within the deanery.  


The Council of Catholic Women coordinated it's first Rummage Sale in August and it was a great success!  Thank you to all that Donated items to the sale and to all who attended and purchased these treasures.  Also, thank you to the members who coordinated and worked at this event.   All proceeds were given to St. Joseph Church.   


July Food Palooza Bake Sale was very successful!   Thanks to all who supported this effort both baking delicious treats and by working the day of the event.   The CCW donated a "camping" themed basket to the Palooza.  Thank you to all who provided items making this a great addition to the Palooza basket raffle. 


June 13th the Council of Catholic Women held its annual summer picnic under the pavilion.  It was a wonderful evening with delicious food and fellowship.  Thank you for bringing such delicious sweet and savory items and for coming to enjoy each others company. 


The Council of Catholic women recognized Senior Altar Server Appreciation and present a framed Certificate, St. Joseph Medal, and Gift Card to two recipients.  Congratulations Gia Kupsky and Greysen Kupsky!  Thank you for your service. 

     

 


  May 16th was election day.  The Council of Catholic Women Election Day bake sale was very successful at the Maria Assunta Society annual spaghetti dinner.   Thank you to all who supported this effort.  The proceeds for the sale support the Lucille Whitmire Scholarship fund.  


   The Council of Catholic Women's Scholarship in memory of Lucille Whitmire is awarded annually to a graduating senior who is an active member of our parish.  Congratulations to Kathryn Cerminaro!  She is the 2023 Lucille Whitmire Scholarship Award recipient.


  Coffee & Donuts - April 23rd 

St. Joseph's Council of Catholic Women hosted "Donuts and Coffee" to celebrate 85 years of joyful service to our Parish!  This event also coincided with the feast day of Our Lady of Good Council which was April 26th.  Thanks to all who attended and help to support this time for fellowship.

   


St. Joseph Day Celebration - March 20th

The Council of Catholic Women assembled an Alter dedicated to Saint Joseph in the church hall and refreshments were served following Mass.  The tradition of building the alter to St. Joseph began as far back as the Middle Ages in gratitude to St. Joseph for answering prayers for deliverance from famine.  The tradition coincides with the Feast of the Solemnity of St. Joseph which is March 19th.

2022 Events

December 29th, 6 p.m., The Council of Catholic Women participated in the Community Christmas Carol Mass followed by fellowship and refreshments in the church hall.  


December 3rd, 10 a.m., The Council of Catholic Women St. Joseph Parish hosted the Northern Deanery Meeting in the Church Hall.  A brunch and meeting was held with 15 attendees.


December 1st, 6 p.m., The Council of Catholic Women St. Joseph Parish hosted a Christmas Party for 27 Residents of Danville State Hospital.   This is an annual tradition where residents are invited to the church hall for food and fun activities such as singing and bingo.  


     November 20th, 4 p.m. all current Altar Servers and anyone considering serving are invited to a Thank You Celebration with entertainment by Father Goodman "Magical Revelations" and a food feast sponsored by the the Council of Catholic Women.  This will be following a training review from Father Barbee.  RSVP to 570-854-1611 by November 13th.

November 5th, The Council of Catholic Women Bake Sale and Sweet Treats  at the Holiday Craft, Vendor and Food Fair was a great success! The Fair had Holiday Items and Homemade Crafts & Decorations from our Popular Vendors.  Also featured the Saint Joseph Italian Kitchen serving our famous and delicious food items!  Stuffed Shells and Meatball Dinner, Fireball, Meatball, Sausage and Porkette Sandwiches, Haluski, Hot Dogs and Sauerkraut.   Thank you to all who supported this effort.


 The Council of Catholic Women of St. Joseph Church recognized the 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries of five couples in our parish.  A special Mass of Celebration was held on October 29th.   Congratulations for 25th Anniversary to Fred and Nancy Scala, and Gary and Carol Siesko.  Congratulations for 50th Anniversary to Bart and Mary Fisher, Peter and Joanne Colone, and Larry and Elaine Parker.  

  


The Council of Catholic Women participated in the Cross Catholic Outreach Box of Joy program through the generous donation of 24 boxes put together by CCW members and three CCD Students.  A Box of Joy is a Christmas shoe box, donated and packed with toys, clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items by participants from U.S. parishes, schools and groups.  Each gift represents Christ’s love and may be the only Christmas gift children in developing countries are blessed to receive.


 

The Council of Catholic Women’s Scholarship in memory of Lucille Whitmire is awarded annually to a graduating senior who is an active member of our parish.  The 2022 Scholarship recipient was Serina DeFinnis.  Congratulations!
